You can start a window enquiry with photos and approximate measurements taken from inside your home. These help Windows4You understand the size of the job and prepare an initial estimate. After you accept the estimate, we carry out the final survey before the manufacturing sizes are agreed.
Start with a photo of each window
Take one clear photo showing the whole window and its surrounding opening. Keep the existing frame, sill and visible edges in the picture. Give each window a simple label, such as "kitchen 1" or "front bedroom". Use the same label beside its measurements. Photograph any detail you want us to consider. If you can safely take an outside photo from ground level, include that too.
Measure the visible opening from inside
Only measure where you can reach safely while standing on the floor. If you cannot reach a measuring point, send a photo and leave that measurement for the survey. Use a tape measure and record the figures in millimetres. Keep plaster, trims and other finishes in place. Record the approximate width across the visible opening at the top and bottom. Then record the approximate height on the left and right. Send all four readings with the window's label. Include a photo showing where the tape starts and ends if the edges are unclear. Send the numbers as measured: do not deduct a fitting allowance.
These are enquiry measurements. Our final survey establishes the dimensions and installation details needed for the order.
Tell us what you want to change
Tell us which windows you want to replace and whether you prefer another opening style, colour or arrangement of fixed and opening panes. Mention nearby furniture and anything that could affect how the window opens. For a bay window, an unusually shaped opening or a window you cannot safely reach, send photos and explain the situation.
What happens next?
We use your information for an initial estimate and discuss the proposed product and fitting work. After you accept that estimate, we carry out the final survey before confirming your order.
Questions
Can I order using these measurements?
No. They are for the initial estimate; the final survey confirms the manufacturing dimensions.
What if the readings differ?
Send all the readings and a photo. Do not adjust the numbers.
What if I cannot reach a window safely?
Send a photo from a safe position and explain which window it is. Leave its measurements for the survey.
Send labelled photos, approximate measurements and your postcode by email or WhatsApp.
