Accessibility statement
Windows4You LLP is committed to making our website usable for as many people as possible. This statement applies to window4you.co.uk and our staging site while we prepare the new service. It was prepared on 29 September 2026 and will be reviewed at least every 12 months.
Standard we work towards
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG is an internationally recognised benchmark for perceivable, operable, understandable and robust web content.
We are a private business, not a UK public-sector body, but we follow the same AA target because many customers rely on keyboard navigation, screen readers or larger text.
What we checked (September 2026)
We reviewed the new Astro site on staging (stage.window4you.co.uk) using a combination of automated scans and manual checks. Summary:
- Automated accessibility scans (Google Lighthouse, accessibility category) on the home page and quote form reported no failing audits in those runs.
- Keyboard review of global chrome: skip link to main content, header navigation, mobile menu control, and primary call-to-action links.
- Sample content pages: windows hub, advice listing (category filters), reviews listing (filters, photo dialog, external review links).
- Forms: quote and referral flows use labelled fields, error handling on submit, and Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection.
A perfect Lighthouse score does not guarantee full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance. We continue manual testing with keyboard-only use and screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS and Safari).
Measures already in the build
- Page language set to English (Great Britain) - en-GB.
- Visible focus styles for keyboard users on interactive controls.
- Skip link to bypass repeated navigation and reach main content.
- Semantic structure: headings, landmarks, breadcrumb navigation where the full site chrome is used.
- Design tokens for colour and type to keep contrast and type scale consistent (see our design system).
- Images from our CMS and components require alternative text; decorative images use empty alt where appropriate.
- Modals and dialogs (for example enlarged review photos) support Escape to close and return focus.
Known limitations
- Third-party embeds (Google Maps on the showroom page, Cloudflare Turnstile on forms) are controlled by those providers and may not meet every WCAG criterion.
- Some historical PDFs or external profile pages (Google, Certass) linked from reviews open in a new tab and are outside our control.
- Campaign landing pages with a reduced header and footer intentionally omit some global navigation links (including the HTML sitemap).
- We are still migrating content from the legacy site; a few long pages or carousels may need further keyboard and screen-reader polish.
