Specification
Size, aspect and proportion
Too large a lantern on a south-facing room can overheat; too small underwhelms a big extension.
Consultants size lanterns with room use and orientation in mind. Two smaller lanterns can balance elevation proportions better than one oversized unit.
- North-facing rooms often suit larger glazing
- South-facing rooms may need tint or reduced area
- Security and ventilation hardware named
- Internal plaster upstand and lighting allowance

Roof lantern FAQs
Questions
Roof glazing and replacement - surveyed before manufacture.
Roof FAQs.
01What materials are your roof lanterns made from?
Aluminium and uPVC, including architect-grade Korniche aluminium lanterns. Finish and colour are confirmed on the written quote.
02What colour options are available?
Aluminium lanterns are typically available across RAL colours in gloss, satin or matt powder coat, including dual colours inside and out.
03Are glass roof lanterns easy to maintain?
Selected models use self-cleaning glass that reacts with UV light to break down dirt, reducing cleaning frequency.
04How big should the roof lantern be?
Consider room size, aspect and use. A north-facing room may benefit from a larger lantern; a south-facing room may need a smaller area or tint. Multiple smaller lanterns can suit wide extensions better than one oversized unit.
05Can you quote without visiting?
Yes. Send outside photographs, rough sizes and the number of openings for a first written price. The survey then confirms manufacture sizes, access, thresholds and finishing details before anything is ordered.
