Start with material
Composite, uPVC, aluminium or steel entrance doors?
The right entrance balances security, weathering, appearance and budget - not a generic “front door”.
Composite slabs suit many replacements. Aluminium earns its place on contemporary elevations. Steel entrances answer architectural briefs with insulation specified for external use.
- Slab, frame and threshold on the quote
- Multi-point locking and hinge capacity
- Glass, side panels and fanlights surveyed together
- Making good and disposal shown in writing

Entrance door FAQs
Questions
Common questions before you compare quotes.
Door FAQs.
01What is a composite door?
A multi-layer slab - often foam core with GRP or similar skins - combining stability, insulation and a finished exterior. It is not the same as solid timber.
02How much do entrance doors cost?
Composite, uPVC, aluminium and steel sit in different bands. The sizes on this page show a starting price; survey confirms the slab, glass and fitting.
03Which material is best for an entrance door?
Composite for a stable decorative slab, uPVC for a straightforward replacement, aluminium for a slim contemporary frame, steel where the grid is the point. Price the shortlist on the same opening.
04Are entrance doors secure?
Security comes from the lock suite, hinge specification and how the frame is fixed - not from the material name. Those items are written on the quote.
05Can you quote without visiting?
Yes. Send outside photographs, rough sizes and the number of openings for a first written price. The survey then confirms manufacture sizes, access, thresholds and finishing details before anything is ordered.
