Hands holding grey, green, oak and white finish samples beside a stone window

A window colour can look different on a screen, on a small sample and against your own walls. Start with the house you have, then compare the finishes available for the window system you are considering.

Look at samples outside

View a real sample in daylight next to your brick, render or stone. Look at it at different times of day if you can. A larger frame sample shows more than a small swatch or a phone picture. Do not assume a colour name looks identical across materials or manufacturers.

Compare the whole front of the house

Notice the roof, front door, gutters and existing windows. Decide whether you want the new frames to blend in or stand out. If you are replacing windows in stages, photograph the elevations you want to keep consistent. Explore our flush casement windows for one of the available styles.

Check the colour from inside

The inside finish affects the room as well as the outside of the house. Ask whether your chosen system offers the same colour on both sides or different inside and outside finishes. Note how the frame, sill and trim will look together.

Match the finish to the product

Colour and finish choices vary by window system. Ask for the actual finish reference and a sample for the product in your quote. Compare the supplier's care information and warranty terms for that finish. Do not assume every dark, woodgrain or painted option has the same price or maintenance needs.

Record the choice before the order

Your written specification should state the exact inside and outside finish for each window, and any different finish for doors, sills and trims. Review it with the final survey details before confirming the order. If you want to change a choice later, contact us promptly. We will check the order stage and applicable terms before confirming whether it can be changed.

Questions

Should my windows and front door match?

They can match or contrast. Look at real samples together and record each finish separately.

Can I judge the colour from a website image?

Use the image for ideas, then compare a real sample at your home. Screens and lighting change how colours appear.

Can I change colour after the survey?

Contact us as soon as you want to change the colour. We will check the order stage and applicable terms before confirming whether the change can be made.

Send photos of the house and any colours you like. Include approximate window measurements for an initial estimate.
