Before confirming a uPVC window order, work through the written specification one opening at a time. A list of each window helps you check that the agreed choices are recorded.

Match each window to the room

Use room labels that match your photos and drawings. Check the quantity and opening arrangement for each location. Make sure the drawing shows which panes open, which stay fixed and where the handles will sit.

Record the frame and finish

Check the named frame system and the inside and outside finish. Include sills and trims where they form part of the order. If some existing windows are staying, confirm how the new appearance has been discussed.

Check glass and fittings

The window list should identify the proposed glass and any agreed privacy or performance features. Confirm the included handles, hinges and locks. Keep supporting product information with the specification where a particular performance requirement matters.

Confirm ventilation and room use

Make sure the proposed arrangement has considered the home's ventilation and any applicable project requirements. Raise anything that affects reach, safe use or furniture placement before approving the layout.

Read the price and fitting work

Check VAT, payment stages and what work is included. Note removal and disposal, access and agreed repairs around the opening. Ask for exclusions to be written down so the scope is clear.

Review the final survey details

The initial estimate can start with photos and approximate measurements. After acceptance, the final survey checks the dimensions and installation details. Review any revised layout or price before confirming the order, and keep a copy of the agreed documents.

Questions

Can I use a brochure name as the full specification?

Ask for the actual frame system, glass, finish and fittings to be recorded for your order.

What if I spot a mistake in the drawing?

Raise it before approval. Ask for the corrected version so everyone works from the same window list.

What paperwork should I keep?

Keep the agreed specification, drawings, price, payment records and the product care and warranty documents supplied for the order.

Send labelled photos, rough inside measurements and your postcode to start an initial estimate.
