Replacing windows is easier when you work through the decisions in order. You do not need to know technical window terms before asking for an estimate. Start with what you want to change in each room.

1. List the openings

Label the windows by room and take clear photos from inside. If you can safely take an outside photo from ground level, include it. Note which sections open now and anything you would change. Send rough measurements only where you can reach safely.

2. Say what matters to you

Tell us if a room feels draughty, gets too hot in sunshine or needs more privacy. Mention nearby furniture, access needs and any existing vents. These details help us discuss products; a photo alone cannot determine a final specification.

3. Compare written options

Ask for the frame material and product, how the window opens, glass, finishes, fittings and the work included. Compare the complete proposed window rather than a single headline number. Check VAT and any work that is not included.

4. Check the building context

Tell us if your home is listed, in a conservation area or subject to special building requirements. The applicable permissions and rules need to be resolved for your project before ordering; do not rely on a generic website answer.

5. Move from estimate to final survey

Windows4You starts with photos and approximate sizes for an initial estimate. If you want to proceed, we visit to check the final dimensions and installation details. Review any change to the window layout or price before approving the order.

6. Prepare for fitting and handover

Confirm the expected timetable, access and the work around each opening. At handover, inspect the windows and ask how to operate and care for them. Record any outstanding issues in writing, then review the work with us before signing the satisfaction form. See how we install for more about the fitting stage. Keep your written specification, warranty information, payment records and later certificates together.

Questions

Do I need to measure perfectly for an estimate?

No. Send rough inside measurements and photos from safe positions. The final survey confirms the order sizes.

Should I choose by frame material alone?

No. Compare the full window, its proposed use and fitting work.

When will I receive certification and warranty documents?

Ask what applies to your installation and when each document will be issued. Do not assume all paperwork arrives on the fitting day.

Send labelled photos, rough measurements and your postcode to start.
