Living room with large windows along one wall

Aluplast develops uPVC profile systems used to make windows. The profile is the shaped frame material. Your finished window also includes glass, seals, fittings and the way those parts are assembled. Its installation is another part of the job.

When comparing an Aluplast proposal, ask which system and complete specification it describes.

Start with the system name

Aluplast is a brand with more than one profile system. A quote that says only "Aluplast windows" leaves an important detail unanswered. Ask for the system name and the proposed opening arrangement.

IDEAL 8000 is one example in Aluplast's published range. Its product information describes the profile system and possible features. Those descriptions do not establish which glass, fittings or options are included in an individual quotation.

Separate the profile from the finished window

The window manufacturer makes the complete window using the selected profiles and other components. Ask which glass, handles, hinges and locking parts are proposed. Record the inside and outside finish as part of that specification.

A photograph of a profile section helps explain construction, but a window drawing is needed to show your arrangement of opening and fixed panes.

Compare the performance being quoted

Ask whether a heat-loss figure describes the frame, the glass or the complete window. For a window comparison, request the complete-window information for the proposed size and construction.

Treat security and noise claims in the same way. Ask what product or test information applies to the actual design rather than assuming every window made from the same profile has identical results.

Check everyday use

For a tilt and turn design, consider the space needed for the opening section to swing into the room. Include worktops, taps and furniture in your photos. Try a representative handle and opening movement where a suitable sample is available.

Include installation and aftercare

Check the fitting work included in the quote, removal of old windows and any agreed repairs around the opening. Ask for operating instructions, care information and the warranty terms for the selected products.

Questions

Are brochure figures the performance of every window?

No. Check the configuration and conditions behind a published figure. Ask which information applies to the window proposed for your opening.

Does the Aluplast name identify the glass and lock?

No. Ask for those parts of the finished-window specification separately.

Can I compare by profile depth alone?

Use the complete design and performance information alongside the profile details. Depth is only one part of the specification.

Send photos, approximate measurements and your postcode. Include any Aluplast system name shown on a proposal you want to discuss for a new W4Y order.
